The Centre caters to the needs of people of all social and religious backgrounds in three ways - training, counselling services and research Throughout the year, the Centre is a beehive of activity with a variety of residential courses lasting eight weeks, 12 months, 24 months and 36 moths. PHILOSOPHY AND PEDAGOGY.
Learning at the Centre is experience-based. Principles of counselling and people-helping are linked and related to trainees' experience, knowledge and skills. The pedagogy combines classroom lectures, field visits, case studies, group exercises and skills practice sessions. Guest lectures by visiting experts are regularly arranged. Paper presentations by trainees, particularly in the longer programmes, are given great importance as are the writing of verbatims and reading reactions. Care is taken to constantly update course curricula in keeping with recent developments in the profession and in society. Emphasis is laid on community life in the campus; most programmes are residential.
