From
the Director
I returned from Seattle 3 months ago to a Centre that has been very energetically doing a lot of programmes, service, training and research even while coping with very hot weather and challenges of water shortages. Short courses around the country, regular courses at the Centre have indicated the continuing relevance of the programmes of the Centre. Staff development has been a highlight. A one month visit by Ph.D. students of Seattle Pacific University (SPU) to learn about psychology and Indian culture in particular was seen to be very meaningful. The Regional Conference of the Association for Psychological Counselling was an impactful event in Chennai. On this occasion, the WHO consultant Dr. Srinivasa Murthy, emphasised the importance of continuing qualitative training, development of community based models, ethical standards, ongoing research relating to the national human resource needs of the country and integration of mental health with primary health and social services. Even though Government’s interest in mental health is increasing it is very inadequate without private participation. In this context, CCC dedicates itself to do its best in meeting the mental health challenges of India and international psychology, with your interest, support, cooperation, collaboration, prayers and good wishes.
