Vellore is a town with a population over 5,00,000 & is situated 150kms. west of Chennai, South India. It has a glorious History with successive Hindu, Muslim & British Rulers before Independence of India.

The town of Vellore is known the world over for the Christian Medical College and Hospital. In fact, the first one bedroom dispensary in which Dr. Ida Scudder started the CMC in 1900, is the same room which is the visitors room attached to our Director’s office. We feel blessed to be in this location. Many staff and patients from CMC come to see this spot with reverence.

The Christian Counselling Centre is situated on a 41/2 acre campus in the Old Mission Compound between Bethel Church and Anbu Illam at Sainathapuram, Vellore. It is about 12 km from Katpadi Railway Junction and 5 km from Vellore Bus Stand.

a. Engage a taxi or auto rickshaw and ask the driver to drop you at Christian Counselling Centre, Sainathapuram located between Bethel Church and Anbu Illam. The taxi may cost you Rs. 200-250 and auto rickshaw Rs. 120 -140.

b. Take bus no. 2 and get off at Sainathapuram bus stop. Get on the opposite side and walk few steps. Present bus charge is Rs.6.

Get off at Vellore New Bus stand. Take an auto rickshaw or a bus (Follow the instruction 1a and 1b). Auto Rickshaw fare Rs. 80-100 and Bus fare (present) Rs.4.

The nearest airports are the Chennai airport about 130 km to the east of Vellore and the Bangalore airport about 205 km. to the west of Vellore.

If you arrive Chennai by air, you may take a taxi to the Central Railway Station, about 20 km. away. The taxi fare ranges from Rs.500 to Rs.350.

All west-bound trains from Chennai go via Katpadi Railway Station to several destinations such as Bangalore, Coimbatore, Trivandrum, etc. Travel time is approximately 2.30 hours; make sure you buy your ticket to Katpadi which is the railway station that serves Vellore town.

After having alighted at Katpadi Railway Station, take an auto rickshaw to CCC campus, a 12 kms. drive. Typical charges are Rs.200 to Rs.250.

If you wish, you may take a taxi directly to CCC, Vellore, from the Chennai airport. It could cost you Rs.2,000 to Rs.3,000 depending upon the type of car you hire. The distance is approximately 130 km; travel time is about 2.30 hours.

Alternatively, you can go from the airport to the bus stand at Koyambedu either by taxi or auto rickshaw. The approximate distance is 15 km. Typically, the auto fare ranges form Rs.110 to Rs.150, while the taxis fare from Rs.200 to Rs.250.

Several state-owned buses operate from Koyambedu Bus Stand, Chennai, to Vellore (new) bus stand from 04:00 am to 10:30 pm. Travel time is approximately 3 hours.

After having arrived at the new bus stand in Vellore, take an auto rickshaw to CCC campus, a 5 km drive. Charges vary from Rs.80 to Rs.100.
